Product Description Osaka holds the first-rank production nationwide of shungiku crown daisy, also called “kikuna” in the Kansai region (as of this interview day). The Senshu region especially focuses on the cultivation of Senshu kikuna. Over 80% of it is cultivated in greenhouses and it boasts a soft texture and well-grown size. Even in the summer, when the harvest amount is generally low, Senshu kikuna still boasts a stable shipment due to farmer ingenuity (shipment peak is from October to May). The Association of Leaf-vegetable Producers has recently strived to drastically reduce pesticide and chemical fertilizer use. Over 90% of Senshu kikuna producers are certified as producers of “Osaka eco-agricultural products” (as of the interview day).
