Message and Commitment from the Producer | The Kamiotowa district, nestled in the northern part of Ibaraki City, affectionately known as Ibakita, has long been revered for its abundance of rice farmers. Raised in this agricultural haven, we have been immersed in the art of rice cultivation since childhood, learning the fundamental processes of field preparation, planting, and harvesting alongside our parents. Ibakita is renowned as a hub where genuine rice farmers converge, with the naturally rich Kamiotowa district boasting famous cherry blossom viewing spots and terraced rice fields, harmoniously intertwined with diverse wildlife. Driven by a fervent desire to preserve this pristine natural environment for posterity, we established "towa farm" (Towa = eternity in Japanese). Here, towa farm's rice cultivation is conducted with the utmost care, using minimal chemical fertilizers and pesticides. Moreover, the rice husks leftover from harvesting are repurposed into rice-husk charcoal, serving as soil enhancers in our fields. In addition to our commitment to sustainable farming practices, we strive to impart the joys of agriculture to younger generations through hands-on "agricultural experiences," such as rice planting and harvesting. This initiative aims to address the challenge of succession in farming, exacerbated by an aging population of farmers. We extend a warm invitation to visit Towa Farm and immerse yourself in the timeless beauty and traditions of rural life. |
